🎹 The Challenge
"Surfin' USA" is built on the melodic DNA of Chuck Berry's Sweet Little Sixteen, but what gives it its distinctive 60s glow is the organ sitting quietly beneath the guitars and vocal harmonies. It's not a showpiece moment — it's a texture, which makes it both easy to overlook and surprisingly hard to blend correctly. The guitar solo section is where everything comes together: drums locked in at a brisk 159 BPM, two rhythm guitars panned left and right, a clean bass line, and the Hammond adding just enough brightness without taking over.
The recreation challenge here was getting that balanced ensemble feel — each instrument present but none dominant — in a ~55-second short.
